R U OK? Day at Eaton Services Group

Last Thursday, September 11, our Eaton Services Group team came together to pause, reflect, and remind ourselves of something simple yet powerful - asking the question, “R U OK?”

As a people-first business, RUOK Day holds special meaning for us. Our work may be commercial cleaning and facility management, but at our core, we are about people - supporting each other, sharing stories, and staying strong as a team in every season.

A Message from Our CEO

At our morning gathering, our CEO shared an important reminder: life touches each of us in different ways. At some point, we all experience moments that are heavy - whether directly or through someone close to us. RUOK Day was our opportunity to bring those experiences into the light through simple conversations.

Reflecting on the infamous Oprah Winfrey's ability to connect with people by drawing out their stories, our CEO encouraged us to do the same: ask the question, listen deeply, and value the stories that might be shared in return. Because when we listen, we strengthen the ties that hold us together.

He also spoke about the challenges of today’s climate - how tough economic pressures, contract shifts, and industry changes affect not only businesses but also people’s wellbeing. In times like these, staying connected as a team and supporting one another matters more than ever.

More Than Just a Day

Over morning tea, we shared stories, smiles and a few reflections. The heart of RUOK Day isn’t about grand gestures but about small, genuine ones - a call, a message, or a conversation over coffee or cupcakes. These are the moments that remind us we’re not alone.

RUOK Day asks us to do four simple things:

• Ask: Start the conversation with “Are you OK?”

• Listen: Be present and truly hear the answer.

• Encourage Action: Support someone in taking steps that might help.

• Check In: Follow up and let them know you care.

And while RUOK Day puts the spotlight on this message, the truth is life happens every day. So should these conversations.
