Reflecting on World FM Day 2026: Cultivating Belonging Through Built Environments
In May, the Eaton Services Group team had the privilege of attending the World FM Day 2026 celebrations held at the stunning River Room, Customs House in Brisbane. It was a standout industry event that brought together facilities management professionals, clients, and organisations who are all working toward a shared goal—creating better, more inclusive built environments.
Held on Wednesday 13 May 2026, the event featured a sit-down lunch, followed by a panel discussion, Q&A session, and valuable networking opportunities.
A Thought-Provoking Industry Event
The afternoon provided an opportunity to hear from an impressive line-up of industry leaders, including:
Melina Bortolussi – Cachet Group
Robert Coe – Programmed
Simone Dalley – SEQ Water
We extend a special thank you to Kristy Keech, National Operations Manager at AESC, for her role as moderator. Her guidance throughout the panel discussion helped create an engaging and insightful conversation that kept the room focused on real challenges and opportunities within the FM sector.
Cultivating Belonging Through Built Environments
This year’s theme, “Cultivating Belonging Through Built Environments,” highlighted the important role Facilities Management plays beyond day-to-day operations.
The discussions reinforced how FM professionals contribute to shaping environments that are:
Safe, accessible, and inclusive
Supportive of diversity, equity, and wellbeing
Designed to reflect the needs of all occupants
Built to foster a genuine sense of belonging
It was a timely reminder that facilities management is not just about maintaining buildings—it’s about creating spaces where people feel respected, supported, and able to thrive.
Connection, Collaboration, and Shared Insight
Beyond the formal program, one of the most valuable aspects of the day was the opportunity to connect with clients and like-minded organisations. These conversations highlighted a shared commitment across the industry to continuous improvement, innovation, and better outcomes for the people who use and rely on these spaces every day.
A Meaningful Celebration of the FM Industry
World FM Day continues to be an important opportunity to recognise the essential, behind-the-scenes work of facilities management professionals. Their contribution is fundamental to ensuring that workplaces, schools, healthcare facilities, and public spaces operate safely and effectively.
We extend our thanks to the Queensland Branch Committee for hosting such a well-executed and thoughtful event, and to all speakers and attendees who contributed to the day’s success.
As we reflect on the event, we are reminded of the importance of collaboration and shared purpose in strengthening the future of the FM industry.
Happy World FM Day 2026.
